Short of the Week: Consent by Jason Reitman

  1. I thought that this short was extremely well written and clever with its humor. Not only was the dialogue funny but the pace at which the actors conversed was very appropriate to their characters, the lawyers being very fast pace and direct. I thought that the lighting was good but not great because it felt a little too dark on the edges. Good story development from beginning to end with the twist of the second girl walking in. Also that the lawyer of each client was a different gender than their client giving them a unique perspective on their client and allowing them to give some insight to their client.

  2. I really liked this short. It was very unexpected for the lawyers to come into the scene. The story was easy to follow very funny.

  3. That was hilarious! This might be my favorite short we've seen. Certainly the funniest. I knew I'd like it when I saw Jason Reitman did it. Loved him ever since "Juno". The whole concept was just so funny to me. And that moment at the end with the second girl just killed me. I thought the lighting was kinda too dark during a lot of it. But that didn't really bother me all that much. The writing more than made up for it.

  4. Really funny piece this week. Anything that can make light of such a serious subject that we hear about everyday, is entertaining. Really simple camera work here but I think it worked well with such a small space. The lighting also helped mask how small the space actually was. All in all a neat piece with fantastic writing.

  5. How original. I LOVED THIS. "Do you mind if I have my layer review this?"
Such an interesting short. Lawyers involved in a college relation. It's so awkward yet so perfect. I don't think this is a film for everyone. I think only those in my generation would think this is funny.
